Hale County was created by the Alabama Legislature on Jan 30, 1867. It was named for Lt. Col. Stephen Fowler Hale, a Confederate Officer from Greene County, killed at Gaines' Mill VA.
The county seat is Greensboro, Alabama which has a good selection of records since 1867. Prior to that, you will need to check all the parent counties to find your ancestors. |
